We are looking for a new colleague to join an exciting project within the wind industry. Do you have strong skills with CFD Support, focusing on 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for aeroelastic instabilities in large wind turbine blades?
Are you deeply engaged in advancing the understanding and predictive capabilities of aeroelastic phenomena such as stall-induced vibrations (SIV) and vortex-induced vibrations (VIV), particularly in standstill and idling conditions?
If yes, let's connect and have a talk!
Location: Brande, onsite.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field of expertise from an accredited university
- Extensive experience in 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, specifically related to aeroelastic phenomena (vortex-induced vibrations, stall-induced vibrations, FSI or forced motion, etc.) demonstrating an understanding of the underlying principles. Ideally for wind turbine applications
- Experience in VIV/SIV analysis is a plus
- Ability to interpret complex data and provide solutions to improve wind turbine blade design and performance
- In-depth knowledge of turbine systems, including components, aerodynamics, and vibration analysis
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and guidelines for turbine design and vibration analysis, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB, bash, slurm (GitLab is a plus), and previous experiences with ANSYS CFX
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex simulation tasks
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Simulation of Wind Turbine Aerodynamic and Aeroelastic phenomena by means of Computational Fluid Dynamics for various platforms, product variants and mitigation actions
- Perform high-fidelity 3D CFD simulations of large wind turbine blades to analyze vortex-induced vibration and/or other relevant phenomena potentially affecting Wind Turbine systems (ensuring the full resolution of the blade flow)
- Develop and implement CFD methodologies, with a special emphasis on VIV/SIV for various product platforms
- Investigate new blade variants for product generations, comparing rotor-locked versus unlocked scenarios
- Prioritize turbines by risk level and confirm turbine risk assessments using engineering-based modeling, aiding in strategic decision-making
- Collaborate closely with the design and engineering teams to integrate simulation results into the development of new blade designs
- Validate simulation results through comparison with experimental data, state-of-the-art literature and industry standards, ensuring accuracy and reliability of the analysis
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in turbine design and vortex-induced vibration mitigation techniques, actively incorporating relevant knowledge into project work
- Document and communicate findings, recommendations, and design modifications to stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making and project progress tracking
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and deliverables, managing multiple priorities effectively to meet project goals and milestones
- Analysis and Interpretation of Results
- Project follow-up
- Reporting and Presenting results to internal stakeholders in English
- Able to start right away
- Valid EU work permit
