The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for two positions as Analyst and Data Managers within bioinformatics as per 1 November 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter. The positions are 3-year full-time positions.

We are seeking two dedicated new colleagues to help analyze and manage the large iPSYCH data collection within the scope of defined and time-limited tasks. If you have a master’s degree or a ph.d. in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics or similar and a fondness for data, you may be one of the colleagues we are looking for.


Your job responsibilities


As analyst and data manager, you will be running analyses of large genomics and health-related data on the GenomeDK supercomputer and assisting scientist in conducting their research. You will be part of a team responsible for analysing, developing and maintaining the iPSYCH data collection and making sure that it stays an important resource for researchers inside and outside of Denmark. The iPSYCH data collection is a resource unique on the World, which was established to study the major psychiatric disorders. It holds information form health registries, chip genotypes, exome sequence data, methylation data and other OMICs data on approximately 140.000 individuals.  For more about iPSYCH, see below.

You will report to Associate Professor Jakob Grove and Professor Anders Børglum.


Your competences


You will have to answer confirmatory to as many as possible of the following statements:

  • Experienced in programming bash, R and/or python
  • Experience with high performance computing
  • Experience doing statistical analyses of large data sets
  • Experience with analyses of common genetic variants and relevant software
  • Experience with analysis of rare genetic variants and relevant tools
  • Experience with other omics data
Moreover, we expect you to
  • have good communication skills, a team-oriented, collaborative spirit and able to contribute to a good work environment.
  • be fluent in oral and written English.

Department of Biomedicine

iPSYCH


The Lundbeck Foundation Initiative for Integrative Psychiatric Research (iPSYCH) was established in 2012 by funding from the Lundbeck Foundation of 121 million DKK for an initial three-year period – the largest grant ever to Danish psychiatric research – and extended for another six years to a total of 361 million DKK. iPSYCH goals was to investigate causes and consequences of five mental disorders (autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression) capitalizing on the comprehensive Danish civil and health registers and nationwide biobanks to provide population structure, clinical information and biomaterial for multi-OMICs analysis.
