For our client in the wind industry, we are looking for a Senior Project Engineer with offshore experience in LV end lightning protection.
Location: Remote
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Has a wealth of technical design experience, with a preference for experience in offshore substations or offshore oil and gas projects
- Experience from a similar position
- A relevant degree in Electrical Engineering is required for this position
- A strong interest in working with electrical design for both onshore and offshore substations
- Experience in wind farm HVDC substation projects will be given an advantage
- Have hands-on experience with LV power system design and studies, including Arc flash studies, selectivity studies, Power Management Study, calculations (short circuit calculation, lighting calculation), equipment sizing, and specifications
- Naturally curious and open to exploring new ways of working with design processes
- Able to work collaboratively with team members and all stakeholders
- A strong analytical approach is a must for this position, as the ideal candidate should be able to handle a wide range of complex tasks with ease
- Strong English Skills
- Valid EU work permit
- Able to start right away
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Designing LV and utility systems for both offshore and onshore substations throughout all project stages, including concept development and final acceptance testing, for both HVAC and HVDC projects
- Participating in project team meetings and working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success
- Contributing to the final acceptance testing of the primary LV and utility systems on both onshore and offshore substations
- Providing technical specifications, design basis, lists, and calculations for LV and utility components for both onshore and offshore substations and taking ownership of the final deliverables
- Identifying technical requirements and ensuring that the engineering, fabrication, and principal contractors deliver high-quality work that meets project specifications
- Work with dedicated engineering specialists to provide scalable technical leadership, establishing a framework of processes, guidelines and other resources to maximize operational efficiency of Engineering
- Ensure safety, environment and sustainability considerations are inherent in the design and delivery of all products and systems within scope area.
- Support Engineering Management in identifying competency and capacity gaps within department and seek resourcing solutions (internal and external) to maintain and build range of technical capability
- Support Package and Product Engineering to inject technical leadership into all stages of the project lifecycle. Control levels of technical variation within Product/Project portfolio and building learnings into standardization strategy and processes
- Act as a mentor for colleagues in scope area. Demonstrate technical leadership and extend influence beyond normal job responsibilities
